You’ll be the go-to person for everything from epic day events to cozy overnight camping, ensuring guests have a blast while exploring our beautiful island.
Your days will be a whirlwind of activities—helping set up equipment for amazing events, selling tickets to eager attendees, and even working alongside our Eco Tourism Guides on nature trails. You'll keep our facilities sparkling and ready for action, restock supplies, and answer inquiries with enthusiasm. We love diversity and welcome all to join us in making every event special.

and Qualifications
Special Events Co-ordinator
Responsibilities:

Customer Service:
-
Provide friendly and effective customer service to all participants and overnight guests at various locations on Manitoulin Island.

Orient and guide visitors and guests at event locations, amenities, and public and private events.

Large Group Rentals:
-
Assist with preparations for and provide customer service during large group rentals, both day-events and overnight camping.

Support participants with inquiries and needs during their stay.

Display Maintenance:
-
Assist in creating and maintaining beautiful displays at event locations.

Event Ticket Sales:
-
Assist in sales for ticketed events, including communication, purchases, exchanges, and precise tracking of attendees and payment information.

Event Equipment Support:
-
Assist coordinators and onsite staff in setting up, maintaining, and helping guests use equipment during events, including some night shifts until midnight.

Ecology Events Support:
-
Assist Lead Eco Tourism Guides in maintaining trails, locating special points of interest, and providing general group support during Ecology events.

Facilities Management:
-
Keep facilities tidy and shift displays & furniture based on needs for particular events.

Respond to guest requests for support, restocking firewood, ice, or other camping supplies.

Communication and Inquiries:

Respond to inquiries about the facilities and programs via phone, email, chat, and messaging.

Qualifications:
-
Customer Service Skills:
-
Enthusiasm for providing patient, courteous customer service.

Diversity and Inclusion:

Commitment to providing an inclusive experience for a diverse range of participants and guests.

Experiential Education Interest:
-
Interest in and/or previous experience with experiential education in astronomy, ecology, and/or eco-conscious agriculture/permaculture.

Communication Skills:

Clear communication with other staff and the public, including conflict resolution.

First Aid and Physical Abilities:
-
Basic First Aid/CPR required; Standard or Wilderness First Aid encouraged.

Ability to lift heavy items for customer service and support facilities transitions between events.

Technical Proficiency:
-
Fluency with Google (Gmail, Drive, Calendar), Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), WhatsApp on a smartphone.

Fluency with or ability to learn Square for financial transactions and Wix for website-based tasks.

Additional Preferences:

Driver’s License preferred, but not required

Ability to lift up to 60 lbs/27 kg as part of routine tasks, with accommodations possible.

Aptitude for languages in addition to English.
